Tommie Baines – VP Planning and Business Development
Mr. Tommie Baines holds a master’s degree in Public Administration. He has strategic planning and management experience for a public agency with a budget of $350 million annually.
In addition to planning, his 20 years of experience have provided him with skills that include organizational structuring, business process design, human resource development, employee training, and project management. He also has computer programming experience.
Asad Yavari, MBA, Ph.D. Vice President-CFO
Dr. Yavari, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, brings more than two decades of impressive financial and general management to Afronet Inc. Dr. Yavari’s experience encompasses areas of financial accounting, economics, and management as well as human relations.
His ten years of teaching and research as an adjunct faculty member in some of the finest institutions in business and finance arenas in Southern California enabled him to stay at the forefront of changes and developments.
Dr. Yavari is responsible for overseeing finance, accounting practices, and investor relations. Most recently, Dr. Yavari served as CFO and controller for US Floors Corporation. He has held controller positions and human relations in Southland Flooring Products Company where he was involved with the company from its infancy.
Luins Williams – Director of Marketing and Sales
Mr. Luins Williams brings over 30 years of business ownership, as well as marketing and sales experience to the Afronet management team. With a history that includes successful newsstand and concessions sales as well as product and business development, Mr. Williams provides valuable guidance to our expanding efforts to increase advertising sales revenues for both the magazine and website.
Pat Tobin & Associates – Public Relations
One of the nation’s leading African-American owned public relations firms, Pat Tobin & Associates has represented major corporations such as Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., AT&T;, Sprint, and ACT*1 Personnel Services, Sony Music, 20th Century Fox, and many others.
Over the years, Pat Tobin has demonstrated the capacity to develop and implement a well-conceived public relations campaign and brings a wealth of media and networking experience to the Afronet team and our growth efforts.
Jonathan Wilson – Chief Operation Officer
Jonathan comes with a 10+ year background in the high technology industry. Most recently his experience has been with Internet ventures including Pearson Technology, an Internet content provider of educational software for the classroom environment and Satisfusion, Inc, an Internet warranty and retention management service provider.
Jonathan has held various high-level positions in financial management, business development, and operations.
Most recently, he was a Vice President of eCommerce services at Satisfusion where he managed the service arm of the Business Development department and customer service & support functions including call center operations, pre- and post-sales technical support, and integration services.
At Pearson Technology, he held a Director of Business Operations position in which he managed an internal sales team for service products, integration/installation services group, contracts administration group, and financial management group.
During his tenure there, he has also involved in mergers and acquisitions due diligence for targeted service companies acquired by Pearson Technology, vendor negotiations, strategic planning, and logistics planning.
Jonathan is an MBA graduate of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a concentration in Finance and Business Law.
His undergraduate degree is from Florida A&M; University where he majored in Finance with a minor in Computer Science.
He has also held significant positions with Bank of America (Finance), Atlantic Richfield Co.(Finance), Chase Manhattan Bank (Operations), and Westinghouse Electronic Services Division (Contracts Management).
